Contents :

With reference to the announcement on 1 August 2003 in relation to the Proposed ESOS, Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad (“Aseambankers”) on behalf of Maybank, had on 23 October 2003 sought Bank Negara Malaysia (“BNM”) approval on the Proposals.

BNM had, vide its letter dated 19 January 2004 approved the Proposals.

Aseambankers on behalf of the Board of Directors of Maybank, wishes to announce that Maybank is also proposing an amendments to its Article of Association. The Proposed Amendments would enable Maybank to have the flexibility to make e-payment or on-line payment apart from payment by cheque or warrant to the shareholders of Maybank in respect of payments of dividends.

The Notice for the Extraordinary General Meeting together with the Circular on the above Proposals would be issued accordingly to Maybank's shareholders and further announcement would be made in due course.
