We refer to our earlier announcements on 23 March 2007, 4 October 2007 and 12 December 2007 in relation to the establishment of MIB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”) established to undertake Islamic banking business.


We are pleased to announce that the Minister of Finance has granted a license to MIB pursuant to section 3(4) of the Islamic Banking Act 1983 for MIB to commence and transact Islamic banking business with effect from 1 January 2008.

This announcement is dated 28 December 2007.
