Subject Members' Voluntary Liquidation of Sri MGAB Berhad (formerly known as Mayban General Assurance Berhad)
Contents Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”) wishes to announce that one of its indirect subsidiaries, Sri MGAB Berhad (SMGAB) (formerly known as Mayban General Assurance Berhad) held an Extraordinary General Meeting (“EGM”) on 30 April 2010 whereby it was resolved that SMGAB be wound up voluntarily.

SMGAB is wholly owned by Mayban Fortis Holdings Berhad (MFHB). MFHB in turn is a 69.05% subsidiary of Maybank. The shareholder of SMGAB had also at the EGM approved the appointment of Ms. Chua Siew Chuan as the liquidator.

As part of the Mayban Fortis Group’s internal restructuring exercise, SMGAB had on 1 July 2009 transferred its general insurance business to Etiqa Insurance Berhad, another direct subsidiary of MFHB and has since been dormant. Subsequently, it changed to its current name on 25 August 2009.

The voluntary liquidation of SMGAB is not expected to have any material effect on the earnings and net tangible assets of the Maybank Group for the financial year ending 30 June 2010. None of the directors or substantial shareholders of Maybank or persons connected to them has any interest in the voluntary liquidation.
