Subject Members' Voluntary Liquidation of Subsidiaries of Maybank
Contents Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”) wishes to announce that its subsidiary, Maydis Berhad (“Maydis”) and indirect subsidiaries Maysec (Ipoh) Sdn Bhd (“MISB”) and Aseam Malaysia Nominees (Asing) Sdn Bhd (“AMNA”), had convened their Extraordinary General Meetings (EGM) on December 10, 2010 at which it was resolved that Maydis, MISB and AMNA be wound-up voluntarily.

Shareholders of the respective subsidiaries had also at the EGMs approved the appointment of YBhg Datuk Mohd Anwar Yahya and Mr Lim San Peen of Messrs PricewaterhouseCoopers as Liquidators for the purpose of the above liquidations.

Maydis is currently inactive and was previously involved in the discount house business until it disposed its business including all assets and liabilities to Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad (Now known as Maybank Investment Bank Berhad) in November 2006. MISB has been dormant since the cessation of its operations as a securities broker in 2001. Since 2006, AMNA have no employees and the administrative and functions are performed by personnel at Maybank Investment Bank Berhad and Maybank, respectively.

The liquidation of said subsidiaries will not have any material effect on the earnings or assets of Maybank Group for the financial year ending 30 June 2011.

None of the Directors or substantial shareholders of Maybank or persons connected to them has any interest, direct or indirect, in the voluntary liquidation.
