Malayan Banking Berhad ("Maybank") wishes to announce that one of its indirect subsidiaries, Maysec (Ipoh) Sdn Bhd ("Maysec") which had been placed under members’ voluntary liquidation on 10 December 2010, has held its final meeting on 14 January 2013.

Maysec is wholly owned by Maybank Investment Bank Berhad (“Maybank IB”), which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of Maybank.

Maysec was previously engaged in stockbroking business and has been dormant since 2005 following the merger of its holding company, Maysec Sdn Bhd (then known as Mayban Securities (Holdings) Sdn Bhd) with Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad to form Maybank IB. The liquidation of Maysec is part of the corporate rationalisation exercise at Maybank IB which aims to streamline Maybank IB group's capital structure.

The dissolution of Maysec will not have any material effect on the earnings or assets of Maybank Group for the financial year ending 31 December 2013.

None of the directors or substantial shareholders of Maybank or persons connected to them has any interest in the voluntary liquidation.

On the expiration of 3 months after the lodgement of the related statutory return with the Companies Commission of Malaysia, Maysec shall be dissolved.
