Malayan Banking Berhad ("Maybank") wishes to announce that one of its indirect subsidiaries, Kim Eng Research Sdn Bhd ("KER") had convened its Extraordinary General Meeting on 30 August 2012, at which it resolved that KER be wound-up voluntarily.

KER is a subsidiary of Maybank Kim Eng Holdings Limited, which in turn is a subsidiary of Maybank IB Holdings Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Mayban IB Holdings Sdn Bhd).

Shareholders of KER had approved the appointment of Mak Kum Choon and Andrew Lai Tsun Khiong of Messrs Deloitte Corporate Solutions Sdn Bhd as Joint and Several Liquidators for the purpose of the liquidation of KER.

KER was carrying on the activity of investment advice and its Capital Markets Services License (CMSL) with the Securities Commission had expired on 18 July 2011. The activity of investment advice for Maybank Group in Malaysia is currently undertaken by Maybank Investment Bank Berhad, a wholly owned subsidiary of Maybank, which holds its own CMSL.

The dissolution of KER will not have any material effect on the earnings or assets of Maybank Group for the financial year ending 31 December 2012.

None of the directors or substantial shareholders of Maybank or persons connected to them has any interest, direct or indirect in the voluntary liquidation.
