Description | Members' Voluntary Liquidation of Maysec (KL) Sdn Bhd |
Malayan Banking Berhad ("Maybank") wishes to announce that one of its indirect subsidiaries, Maysec (KL) Sdn Bhd (“Maysec (KL)” or the “Company”) had convened its Extraordinary General Meeting on 24 July 2014, at which it resolved that Maysec (KL) be wound-up voluntarily. Maysec (KL) is wholly owned by Maysec Sdn Bhd, and its penultimate holding company is Maybank Investment Bank Berhad (“Maybank IB”), which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of Maybank. Shareholders of Maysec (KL) had approved the appointment of Lim San Peen of Messrs PricewaterhouseCoopers Advisory Services Sdn Bhd as liquidators for the purpose of the liquidation of Maysec (KL). Maysec (KL) was previously engaged in the business of dealing in securities and acts as a securities broker. It had ceased operations on 30 December 2006 when the Company’s stockbroking business was vested to Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad (now known as Maybank IB) pursuant to the Order of High Court of Malaya dated 29 August 2006 and has since remained dormant. The liquidation of Maysec (KL) was part of the corporate rationalisation exercise at Maybank IB. The dissolution of Maysec (KL) will not have any material effect on the earnings or assets of Maybank for the financial year ending 31 December 2014. None of the directors or substantial shareholders of Maybank or persons connected to them has any interest, direct or indirect in the voluntary liquidation. This announcement is dated 25 July 2014. |
