Malayan Banking Berhad ("Maybank") wishes to announce that one of its indirect subsidiaries, Mayban Futures Sdn Bhd (“MFSB”) had convened its Extraordinary General Meeting on 18 June 2014, at which it resolved that MFSB be wound-up voluntarily. MFSB is a subsidiary of Maysec Sdn Bhd (“Maysec”), which in turn is a subsidiary of Maybank Investment Bank Berhad.
Shareholders of MFSB had approved the appointment of Andrew Lai Tsun Khiong and Lai Can Yiew care of Messrs Deloitte Corporate Solutions Sdn Bhd as Joint and Several Liquidators for the purpose of the liquidation of MFSB.
MFSB was previously a licensed futures broker and had ceased operations since 30 June 2003 and remained dormant. The liquidation of MFSB was part of the corporate rationalisation exercise at Maybank Investment Bank Berhad.
The dissolution of MFSB will not have any material effect on the earnings or assets of Maybank Group for the financial year ending 31 December 2014.
None of the directors or substantial shareholders of Maybank or persons connected to them has any interest, direct or indirect in the voluntary liquidation.
