We refer to our announcement to the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange dated 24 August 2000.


On behalf of Maybank, we wish to announce that the proposed acquisition of the banking business of The Pacific Bank Berhad ("TPBB") by Maybank has been completed. Maybank and TPBB have jointly made an application to the High Court of Malaya ("Court") pursuant to Section 50 of the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 1989 and have obtained the Vesting Order from the Court today which effectively vests the banking business of TPBB with that of Maybank from 1 January 2001.
