Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad on behalf of Malayan Banking Berhad ("Maybank") is pleased to announce that Bank Negara Malaysia ("BNM"), vide its letter dated 3 May 2000 approved the commencement for negotiations between Maybank and Fortis International N.V ("Fortis") in relation to Maybank’s proposal to dispose its 30% equity interest in Mayban Assurance Berhad ("MAB") and Mayban Life Assurance Berhad ("MLA") to Fortis.
However, an approval from the Ministry of Finance via BNM is required before any Conditional Sale and Purchase Agreements is executed.
