On behalf of Maybank, Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad wishes to announce that the Company had on 26 August 2005, requested for a suspension of trading of its securities from 9.00 a.m. on 29 August 2005 to 5.00 p.m. on 29 August 2005.
The Company intends to make an announcement of a material transaction on 29 August 2005 in respect of the acquisition of equity interest in MNI Holdings Berhad by Maybank and/or its subsidiary, Mayban Fortis Holdings Berhad, from Permodalan Nasional Berhad (“PNB”) and Amanah Raya Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd - Skim Amanah Saham Bumiputera (“ARN-ASB”). The abovementioned material transaction will be subject to approvals from the Company’s shareholders and the relevant authorities including inter-alia, Bank Negara Malaysia.
